Who We Are
Wrestling Resurgence is a Leicester-based independent wrestling promotion. We run live shows, create digital content, and produce publicly funded arts projects — all built around the belief that wrestling is a serious storytelling art form.
We were founded in 2017 by Sam West, John Kirby, and Professor Claire Warden, growing out of a collaboration between the arts, academia, and the British independent wrestling scene. Since then we've built a reputation for character-driven storytelling, women's wrestling, and intergender competition, and for a model of independent wrestling that takes its craft — and its audience — seriously.
Our home is the Y Theatre in Leicester, one of the city's oldest performing spaces. We run approximately four shows a year, alongside a growing programme of online content and longer-term funded projects.
